A lot of campervan owners find that a Rock and Roll bed is just too small for them and that the only way two people can sleep on one, is for them to spoon all night! This is especially true if you’re of above average height or build.

A great solution to this is to go for a U shape configuration to maximise the bedding and the seating area. Plus, the U shape is fantastic for underneath storage, which is at a premium in a campervan. Another benefit of having U shape seating, is you can comfortably sit and eat, sit and read, or sit and admire the view out of your van’s windows. It’s like sitting on a sofa. A Rock and Roll just doesn’t give comfort quite the same. You can only face forward too. U shape seating gives you 3 vantage points.
Sean and Claire came to us, requiring a set of cushions to sit on top of the U shape units they’d just had made for their VWT5. We took all the measurements and cut the foam to size. Then we placed the foam over the seating units making sure that everything would fit perfectly and was sculpted around the van’s unique interior shapes. Next, the cushion covers were cut out, sewn and then filled with the new high density foam cushion interiors, which were given a Dacron wrap, for a more luxurious feel and a smoother look.
There was a bit of a discussion at one point about whether the yellow Bentley style stitching should be twin needled, or single diamond stitch! The single stitch won out as you can see in the images above.
